Finland's Basic Income Experiment: What Two Years of Data Showed

The Kela-led pilot provides the most rigorous dataset on how unconditional transfers affect long-term health and employment patterns in a Nordic economy. 2,000 unemployed adults received 560 EUR per month with no conditions attached.

Participants reported higher wellbeing, greater trust in institutions, and - crucially - no reduction in employment rates versus the control group.
